My
collection of detail items, has come from many sources. Some are
from online auctions. Most are salvaged from old layouts, and are found
at club swap meets or through notices posted at the local train
store. Some are scratch built or kit-bashed. Only the
figures, animals and people, are glued to the layout or to the structure
they are related to. The structures and vehicles are unattached so
that I can easily change the scene from time to time. The houses
and buildings have had both AC lighting and DC lighting added, and some
have been repainted or replaced. I still do not cement
them to the layout, because I might have to change a light bulb.
The trees and bushes are not glued to the layout, also so I can move
them around. Another reason to be able to easily take items off
the layout, is cleaning. It is much easier and safer to clean the
natural dust accumulation on an item by removing it from the layout. |
